Chris Curtis, , Program Director

Chris Curtis is a Program Director with the Center for the Study of Law and Enforcement Policy and has been with PIRE since May 2005. Prior to joining PIRE, Mr. Curtis was with the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control Enforcement Division (ABC) for over 30 years, where he retired as Director - a position he held for 10 years. Mr. Curtis joined Virginia ABC in 1976 and held progressively responsible positions, including Special Agent, Chief Auditor, Hearing Officer, Special Agent in Charge and Deputy Director, before his retirement in 2005.

Mr. Curtis graduated from Virginia Tech with a BS in Political Science and has completed course work towards a Masters degree in Public Administration. He is a graduate of the 180th Session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy and a 2004 graduate of the Virginia Executive Institute.

He is a Charter Member and Past President of the National Liquor Law Enforcement Association. This association is focused on improving the standards and practices of alcoholic beverage law enforcement, to the professional development of its members and to public recognition of the role and achievements of liquor law enforcement in protecting and promoting public safety.
